This soil (23-1000-349-a) was designated as public fill within the Tseung Kwan O Area 137 Fill Bank.

Basic on site testing determined that the clay content was sufficient for making activities. A large sample of fill was transported to the University of Hong Kong Division of Landscape Architecture, where soil processing is underway.

No additives were added to the soil. This brick was part of an experiment to see which soils performed better with an addition of 30% water. The soil was sieved through a fine sieve resulting in smaller overall particle size. The brick came out of the press easily, however when transported from the press to the drying area it crumbled. The gray markings on the side of the brick are from the press, perhaps from iron or rust?
