Intact

Site-driven material

This soil was salvaged from a construction project in Kai Tak. It is from a later stage of construction and is therefore from deeper within the hill that the construction resides upon. The similarities and subtle differences from sample 22-1000-300-a illustrate the differences in an 'intact' soil profile.

It is part of a project by Niko Leung and Loky Leung, the co-creators of Hong Kong Soil (@hongkongsoil) , who are advocating for meaningful reuse of discarded soil from local construction sites. The soil is processed and refined to be used in rammed-earth construction or as pottery clay.
