This PP sample, produced by Plastic Wood Studio, is derived from recycled #5 plastic collected in Hong Kong. It is produced mostly from recycling food containers and contact lens containers. After cleaning waste materials, this material was sorted, shredded, and collected. This plastic can be melted and pressed to create plastic molds and panels.
Plastic Wood Studio (https://www.facebook.com/plasticwoodstudio/) was founded in March 2019 by Laura Li Nogueira and Boy Yiu Kwan-ho as a workspace for plastic recycling and manufacturing. In Hong Kong, plastic waste comprises the third largest category of municipal solid waste in landfills. Plastic Wood Studio works to recycle local materials to advocate for waste reduction and clean recycling in Hong Kong.
