Process-driven material

Okara, or soy bean drag, consists of the insoluble parts of the soybean. As a by-product of tofu production it is cheap, readily available and biodegradable. The leather production, however, has some challenges as the material is lacking binding strength and shows mould after few days. The addition of vinegar could protect okara leather from moulding, but the plant-based leather is still fragile and will need to undergo further testing.
