While the debate surrounding increased housing development on Lamma Island continues, small private-sector developments have sprung up along the peripheries of the old villages. On the beaches adjacent to these developments, pieces of tile, stone and concrete slowly erode and mix in with the natural sandy sediments. This tile and the painted ceramic piece were found at Nga Kau Wan Beach (Tannery Beach) amongst other artefacts of construction and demolition.
