This soil was sampled at Victoria Recreation Club in Emerald Bay. Established in 1849, it is oldest recreational club in Hong Kong, with its Sai Kung branch opening in 1961. The site, known for its rich history as a recreational destination, faced severe damage from Typhoon Mangkhut in 2018.

Currently, TAL-L is undergoing experimentation to understand and address issues of soil erosion on site.
