The fragment was sourced from a damaged planter curb in Whampoa, Kowloon, HK. Likely the result of physical damage and gradual mechanical weathering, the displaced chunks harbored space for soil to collect and plants to grow, such that the mortar backside carries considerable soil residue. The 2cm square glass tiles, also found in ceramic varieties, are ubiquitous across Hong Kong's urban surfaces and are thought to be a mold-proof alternative to plain concrete or painted facings.
